If you are a Democrat that has expressed an interest in running for City Council, are actively running, or have indicated that you want to work on a City Council race – you are invited. May 17-24, 2014 – “Citizens at Last” at the Texas State Capitol, Ground Floor Rotunda: Citizens at Last Suffrage Movement in Texas, presented by Humanities Texas, focuses on the twenty-seven year campaign for woman suffrage in Texas with panel topics covering the national beginning of the movement, early Texas leaders, anti-suffrage sentiments, efforts to amend the Texas Constitution, primary suffrage, and, finally the ratification of the Nineteenth Amendment in 1920.
